CodeBuddy is an AI programming assistant launched by Tencent, offering IDE plugins and a standalone AI programming environment. It supports features such as code completion, conversational programming, intelligent code review, and unit test generation, and is deeply integrated with the Tencent Cloud development ecosystem. One of CodeBuddy's key features is its friendliness to Chinese developers, supporting natural language interaction in Chinese.
CodeBuddy supports mainstream IDEs such as VS Code and JetBrains series, and includes dual modes: Chat (conversational Q&A) and Craft/Agents (autonomous execution). The Chat mode answers questions and provides suggestions; the Agents mode allows AI to autonomously plan, execute, and generate outputs, covering scenarios such as code development, document generation, and website building. Note: CodeBuddy is no longer a completely free product. Together with its sister product WorkBuddy, it is collectively called Buddy AI. Starting July 1, 2026, the domestic personal version's paid plan has been upgraded from a single Professional plan to three tiers: Standard, Advanced, and Flagship (the Enterprise plan took effect on May 15 with independent pricing). However, the free trial version still retains basic code completion and conversational capabilities.

CodeBuddy is a quality AI programming choice for domestic developers—Chinese-friendly, with practical AICR code review, and if you are a user of the Tencent Cloud ecosystem, the integration experience is even better. It should be noted that it is no longer a completely free product: the free trial version has sufficient functionality but limited quotas; heavy users need to evaluate the ¥99-999/month paid tiers. In terms of feature depth, it still lags behind Cursor and Copilot, but its iteration speed is very fast (monthly updates).
